Certification according to PS 880

Business processes are increasingly shifting from traditional workflows to digitized automation. The value chain in the company is becoming more efficient, while the organizational and specialist risks of inadequate technical implementation are increasing. Potential technical errors are increasing. At the same time, it is important that commercial and tax law requirements are met. Certification in accordance with the IDW audit standard PS 880 gives you the assurance that accounting-related processes and software applications comply with legal requirements.

The PS 880 certification can be applied in three areas:

  • Certification of IT software products on the manufacturer side (e.g. archive systems / DMS, merchandise management, accounting, etc.)
  • Certification of IT business processes on the application side (e.g. digital document management, release procedures, purchasing, etc.)
  • Certification of IT interfaces between software applications (e.g. data transfer from ERP system to accounting or archiving system, data transfer to payroll accounting, etc.)

The certification process according to PS 880 includes the following areas, among others:

  • Recording of the business process or software product
  • Recording the development environment
  • Checking the process documentation for completeness and up-to-dateness
  • Assessment of the maintenance and development procedures, in particular the test and release procedures
  • Checking the appropriateness in the course of a setup test
  • Examination of the appropriate program implementation in the course of a functional test
