Crowe Stories - René Schultze

Crowe BPG, HR
  1. Introduce yourself and your job!
    René Schultze
    Senior Tax Consultant

I work here in the tax consulting department as a senior tax consultant and also handle internal processes and change management.

I highly recommend the profession of tax consultant to everyone; there are a wide variety of opportunities and plenty of freedom to develop and do the things that bring you the most joy. Plus, you never stop learning, since laws and case law are constantly changing—and that’s exactly what makes my profession so exciting.

  2. What did you study, or what training did you complete?
IUBH Düsseldorf: Dual Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Taxation
Followed seamlessly by a part-time Master of Laws in Tax Law at the Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln
Followed seamlessly by the tax advisor exam
Afterward, I completed a distance learning program to become a Rating Advisor, followed by certification as a Specialist Advisor for Ratings from DStv e.V.

  3. Where did you work previously?
Ecovis KSO, a Next10 tax consulting firm, in the e-commerce and start-up sector—this is also my primary industry focus.

  4. How did you end up at Crowe?
    Through a headhunter.

  5. Why would you recommend working here to others?
I would recommend working here because of the many opportunities for professional development that are available. You can get involved and grow freely; ideas are heard and put into practice. And team spirit is a top priority here—I was welcomed with open arms from the very beginning and supported by everyone whenever I had questions.

  6. What three words best describe you?
    Determined, ambitious, and curious.
And those are qualities that go hand in hand with tax consulting. In our industry, your own drive can take you very far. And since laws and court rulings are constantly changing, your thirst for knowledge is always satisfied.

  7. If you were a superhero, what superpowers would you have and why?
Teleportation—it would save a lot of time that would otherwise be wasted commuting back and forth.

  8. Do you have a favorite quote or motto that guides you through life?
Just do it. Just go ahead and tackle things—in the end, you’ll always be one experience richer. Even if something doesn’t work out or goes wrong, and if it does work out, you’ll be all the more proud of yourself for having given it a try.

  9. What hobbies do you pursue? What are you passionate about?
Fitness and scientific work. On the side, I’m also a lecturer out of passion, where I get to live out my passion for scientific writing and research.

  10. What do you really dislike?
Lack of punctuality, because I’m always on time myself and well-organized.

  11. What’s your favorite food?
    Pizza Funghi

  12. And last but not least... what makes you happy?
Food—I actually have a sweet tooth and enjoy the bowl of candy sitting in the office.
